Headway Shropshire
About Us

The Headway Shropshire Centre, Shrewsbury
We are a local charity that was set up in 1989 by people who had experienced the effects of Head and Brain Injury. This year about 100 people in Shropshire and Telford will have a head injury because of an accident, a fall, or an assault. Young people are particularly at risk.
Many others will have strokes, surgery or illnesses.
The number of people who survive a severe brain injury is rising dramatically, mainly because of medical advances.
All these people will need a great deal of support. So will their families and carers. Most of them will never make a full recovery.
Even minor brain injury, causing slight concussion, can have serious long-term effects.
Brain injury can have a devastating effect on people's lives, their work and their relationships with family and friends.
Headway Shropshire provides specialised support for people with acquired brain injury, their carers, family and friends, through day services, Carers support, outreach support, Information Service and Membership. Follow the links on the left for more details of each service.
